About OpenToolVault
What is OpenToolVault?
OpenToolVault is a growing directory of free, open-source tools. Every listing names its source code, license, and where your data goes. Some tools run entirely in your browser; others are self-hosted or open an official demo — we're transparent about which is which. We research, document, and link to the best free tool for any task.
Why we built it
There are thousands of amazing open-source browser tools scattered across GitHub. Most are hard to find, poorly documented, or abandoned. OpenToolVault makes them discoverable, testable, and trustworthy — with proper attribution to the original maintainers.
How it works
Discovery: Our pipeline continuously scans GitHub for open-source browser tools across 25+ niches.
Verification: Each tool is classified by execution mode (native browser, external demo, or library), checked for live demos, and attributed to its maintainers.
Documentation: Every tool gets a deep article explaining what it does, how it works, how to use it, and its limitations — generated from the actual project README.
Privacy: All 16 native tools process data entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server. No cookies, no trackers, no analytics.
Privacy commitment
✓ Zero cookies — We set no cookies on your device.
✓ Zero trackers — No Google Analytics, no Microsoft Clarity, no ad trackers.
✓ Zero accounts — No signup, no login, no personal data collection.
✓ Local processing — All interactive tools run in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.
✓ Transparent — Every tool shows its source repository, license, and processing location.
How we sustain
OpenToolVault is free for everyone. We sustain through privacy-respecting contextual advertisements (no tracking, no user profiles), direct sponsorships from open-source-friendly companies, and community support. We never sell user data because we never collect it.
For tool maintainers
If your open-source browser tool is listed on OpenToolVault, we credit your project with the repository link, license, star count, and demo URL. You can request corrections or removal through the Report Issue link on your tool's page, or contact us through our GitHub repository.
Contact
OpenToolVault is an open-source project itself. For questions, corrections, partnerships, or tool submissions, find us on GitHub or use the Report Issue link on any tool page.
